With alkalinity and adsorptivity, food-grade calcium hydroxide can improve water quality and adjust and neutralize the pH value of water during treatment. Acting as a flocculant, it adsorbs and precipitates ionic substances in water — calcium ions react with phosphate ions to form calcium phosphate precipitates, thereby softening the water. Since beverages are classified as food products, only food-grade calcium hydroxide that complies with national standards can be used.
